What would change with me in office

Three priorities. Specific actions. Public results.

The job is to turn City Council authority into outcomes residents can see: homes completed, downtown running, and people moving from crisis toward stability. Fiscal discipline sits underneath all three and keeps every promise honest.

Make room for local life

An approval is not a home.

Current renters and future renters both count.

Santa Barbara has approved far more housing than it has finished. Occupancy is the result that matters, and it is the number City Hall stops publishing.

  • Publish permits, construction starts and completed homes as separate quarterly numbers.
  • Name 500 downtown homes site by site, with the stage, the blocker and the responsible owner for each.
  • Trigger corrective action after two missed quarters instead of resetting the promise.

How you will knowThe completion rate moves toward 70 percent, the named 500 are permitted, under construction or occupied, and the public can see whether a delay is City process, financing, utilities or construction.

Bring Santa Barbara's front porch to life

Finish the plan. Open the doors. Run the street.

A business should know the path to opening before risking its savings.

Downtown does not need another vision. It needs operating decisions, a clear path to opening a door, and someone accountable for the street on an ordinary Tuesday.

  • Give every block a stated role and one named owner responsible for delivery.
  • Tell an applicant in writing what opening will cost and how long it will take, before the lease is signed.
  • Report progress every 90 days, including the quarters that are off track.

How you will knowThe clock from lease to open door gets shorter against a published baseline, and no core block carries three consecutive long-dark storefronts.

Protect the conditions for local life

The right response should arrive on time.

Accountability is foundational. Humanity and order belong together.

Housing status determines what help we offer. Behavior determines what rules apply. A contact is activity, a handoff is progress, and durable stability is the only outcome worth counting.

  • Publish response times against target every month, including the ones we are missing.
  • Build one crisis-care ladder with named handoffs between City, County, hospital, shelter and housing.
  • Measure placements, exits and repeat returns rather than counting contacts.

How you will knowPriority 1 response holds inside seven minutes, Priority 3 comes inside thirty, and crisis outcomes are published and improving rather than described.

Accountability

Results you can check before you have to trust.

Every major commitment should name what changes, who owns it, what it costs, when it is due, and what result tells you it worked. Where an exact cost is not yet supportable, the commitment is to publish the fiscal note before the vote rather than to invent a number.

Each plan also states how you would know it failed. Accountability only means something when the measurement can embarrass the officeholder.

Why I'm running

Santa Barbara gave me a future.

I am running to protect that possibility for others.

I know what instability does to a life. I also know what becomes possible when people have housing, safety, work, care, and a community they can belong to. As a District 6 renter and a housing professional, I see both the pressure people feel and the systems City Hall can actually improve. I am running so more people can see a real next step here.
